20th Century Fox banked big this weekend thanks to Titanic” director James Cameron’s epic sci-fi flick “Avatar” clocking in No. 1 at the box office, also setting a record for a 3-D opening with $73 million in US ticket sales and $159.2 million overseas, for a $232.2 million worldwide total.
“Avatar” stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana in an 22nd century love story about human-alien conflict on Pandora, a distant moon. The film used digital technology to transform most of the cast into blue-skinned 10-foot tall aliens, while computer animation was used to add the details of the characters, along with the lush foreign landscape and special effects.
“I think it is the must-see film event of recent memory,” Fox executive Chris Aronson said. “I do believe it is a game-changing movie. It will change the way people think about movies, the way they see movies, what they want to see in movies.” This movie is beautiful! You have to see it in 3d though to get the full experience…Have any of yall seen this yet?

It was epically beautiful. I felt like I was in the movie. The music was amazing and accompanied the mood and the feeling of the characters terrifically. It was long but it didn’t “feel” long to the point that you are checking your watch. It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat and I most certainly recommend everyone to check it out. After the film was over that was the first I ever experienced in which the audience actually clapped after. Apparently it has happened more than once after the end of the film so that’s awesome. James Cameron hit a home run on this. Kudos to Zoe Saldana and her emotion from start to finish she conveyed. I resonated with her character so much , too identical actually from the action to the love/attraction scenes I teared up during certain parts, you can’t help it… I can’t wait for the DVD to arrive…
